The Bronze Foundation is Greater Toronto's auditioned community handbell choir. The group aims for a high level of concert performance of a wide range of handbell repertoire. It gives advanced level ringers the opportunity to grow together, to challenge themselves and each other, and to share their love of handbells and handbell music with concert audiences throughout Ontario.

The group has evolved through several stages since its founding in 2001 under the directorship of Rick Humphrey. Currently, The Bronze Foundation performs on five octaves of Malmark handbells and three octaves of Malmark handchimes, courtesy of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Scarborough, Ontario. This season, the group's ringers hail from Waterloo and Brantford to the west, Whitby and Burlington to the east, and Newmarket to the north. J.-C. Coolen has directed the group since 2005.

The Bronze Foundation would like to play for your organization. Contact us for more details.

The Bronze Foundation is always looking for excellent ringers who would like to participate in the group. Auditions for all ringing positions will be held whenever we have open spaces. We are auditioning for spaces in January 2017.

Auditions include three components:

  • An individual skills evaluation (handbell techniques and music reading)
  • An interview with the director re: goals and commitment
  • A group audition (reading through several pieces in different positions)

The Bronze Foundation is also interested in adding qualified ringers to its substitute list.
